I love these posts! I remember how excited I was about really silly things with both my big boy and then the twins. It goes so fast.

It's seven years ago in 6 weeks that I brought Nathan home for the first time, and just over 4 years since the twins came home, and they both feel like yesterday. It gets better everyday, they are more precious every day, and you learn more everyday.

I actually think that having kids is what makes people grow up. It's hard to put perspective on your youth until you have to discipline, teach, agonize, fear, laugh, and celebrate with your children. Without that perspective we remain children inside. With kids we remain chldren at heart, but we grow up emotionally - fast.

My husband has decided we are going to prevent our daughter from even sitting next to a boy that isn't her brother from the age of 12 to 28... I'm working on it :)

Me? Insightful? You sure you're reading this blog?

We're not at "Dada" with recognition just yet. The word is there, but the association is still missing. Waiting for that.

Geoff,

I spent the better part of the day reading your blog and it's very insightful. But I'm here to comment on this particular piece...

Children are a blessing. I have a 15-month-old myself. He's a bundle of joy and he gets into e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!

Now, with your child cutting teeth, you may want to use Baby Orajel. It's pretty effective and I've found that my son takes to it pretty well. Also, if no teeth have pushed through her gums yet, use a soft, damp washcloth and wipe her gums. It's good to keep them clean despite the lack of teeth.

You just wait until she says "Dada" or when she starts walking.
