Getting closer to fatherhood

Until about three weeks ago, the only way I knew Alex was pregnant was a slowly growing belly and her insistence that the baby was, in fact, using her internal organs as its sparring partners.

The problem with human flesh is that’s not transparent, and with a lack of x-ray vision, it’s hard to feel a part of what’s going on.

Then I felt something.

DRM’s new name: Digital Consumer Enablement

To paraphrase Shakespeare: Would a pile of crap by any other name smell just as bad?

Apparently, the head of HBO doesn’t think so. He wants to rename DRM so people think of it in a nicer light.

There’s only problem with that, Bob: You’re still thinking in a very old school way.

The easiest move ever

So my friend Adrian finally bought a place of his own. Impressive, given what he had been looking at only a few months ago. And he chose well, too. It’s not a bad place at all, and if he treats it well, should appreciate in value.

Today, he moved into his new place. I helped him move.

Critical Mass does Spiderman

One of the biggest movies of this year will likely be Spiderman 3. Obviously, that’s hard to know for sure, but we’ll know by December.

Anyhoo, the Critical Mass Social Club is now in full swing, and one of the first major events was to check out the movie on opening day.

Keebler posted this on his site, and I think I shall do the same in support against the DCMA. (You know how much I just love the DCMA, RIAA, and MPAA’s attempts to completely control all media and tell everyone that they have no rights to things that they’ve legally bought.)

Feel free to check out the stories supporting this as well. While most of you probably won’t give a flying fig, it’s only when the populous stands up and says “no, this is wrong” can things actually change.

And in case you don’t like the text, there’s also an image-based version.

Up a notch in ranking

I freely admit that I don’t have a lot of truly useful information in this site. While I do get a considerable number of hits for how to throw a surprise party, steam locomotive 2816, movie piracy (and calgary movie ticket prices), how much Calgary Transit sucks, and (sadly still happening) Red Deer strippers, I don’t have a lot of permanent links to my site.

And yet, somehow, I’ve gone from PR 4 to PR 5.
